My Why

After nearly two decades working across the construction and design industry — including architectural drafting, project management, and interior design — I began to see a clear pattern.

Women entering the industry were capable and motivated, yet often unsupported in the early stages of their careers. Not because they lacked skill or ambition, but because the realities of the environment weren’t always explained, and practical support wasn’t always available.

Build Her was created in response to that gap — to provide women entering construction with guidance, mentorship, and support from the very beginning, so they can build confidence, capability, and long-term careers in the industry.

In a traditionally male-dominated construction industry I’ve faced many challenges, leading me to establish an online mentorship for women.

Over time, it became clear that the issue wasn’t a lack of capability or ambition — it was a lack of early support, preparation, and guidance around the realities of the industry. Many women were stepping into construction without the context or backing needed to feel confident and supported from the outset.

Build Her was created from that understanding. It exists to offer women entering the industry practical mentorship, shared knowledge, and a supportive environment where they can learn from experience, connect with others, and build confidence as they grow.

This journey isn’t about changing who women are — it’s about changing the support around them, so they can build strong, sustainable careers in construction.

So Why An Online Mentorship For Women In Construction?

Fed up with reading the same repetitive headlines online about the need for women in the construction industry and the perpetual shortcomings in supporting them, I reached a point where I decided enough was enough. Instead of passively consuming the same narratives, I decided to be the change. Drawing from my two decades of experience in the industry, I decided to load up my tool belt and create a platform that actively addresses the issues, not just by talking about them but by offering real support for women in the field.

Those repetitive headlines were not just words, they became a rallying cry for change. The frustration transformed into determination, prompting me to establish a space where women in construction don’t just read about the need for support, they find it. This is not just another online networking group, it’s a dynamic platform for action, mentorship, and community building. I’m doing it differently because the industry needs different things.

So here I am, disrupting the status quo and inviting women in every area of construction from trades to corporates, to join me. It's time to move beyond the headlines and start scripting our own narratives. Let’s not talk about change, let's embody it.
